Our Services

Paediatric Occupational Therapy focuses on helping children of all ages with physical, sensory, or cognitive challenges to be as independent as possible in all areas of their lives. Sophie Says OT works with children with developmental delay and those with specific diagnosis. These may include Cerebral Palsy, Down Syndrome, Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), Global Developmental Delay and Sensory Processing Disorders. A child’s main ‘occupation’ is playing and learning. Sophie says OT can evaluate your child’s skills in a variety of areas that include play, school performance and other daily activities.

Fine Motor Skills

We help children work on fine motor skills so they can grasp and release toys, develop good handwriting, scissor, block building and puzzle skills.

Play, Social and Problem Solving Skills

Through play-based therapies, we help children navigate and develop play skills, understand their feelings and interact with others.

Gross Motor Skills

We work with children to develop their postural strength and control, helping them to become aware of their bodies and understand their abilities.

Visual Motor Integration

We assess and work with children on their hand-eye coordination to improve their play and school-based skills including hitting a target, batting a ball and handwriting.

Functional Independence

We help children with physical disabilities, developmental delays and other challenges to learn basic tasks such as bathing, getting dressed, brushing their teeth and feeding themselves.

Attention and Behaviour

We help children with behavioural disorders maintain positive behaviours in a variety of environments. We also work with children who have sensory and attentional issues to improve focus and social skills.

Adapting Aids (Equipment Assessment)

We can evaluate a child’s need for specialised equipment and work with families to successfully integrate devices such as wheelchairs, splints, bathing equipment and dressing devices.

Other Assistance

We offer a wide range of support to the community, so enquire today about our additional services.
